I don't remember the first time my dad put me on the back of a horse but I do know that I have been riding horses since I was three years old and training them since I was 10. We always had horses around because Dad was also a horse trainer and a very good one at that. At 16 I started riding rough stock in rodeos. I was in rodeo for 20 years.
Horses have been the focus of my entire life and they have taught me many lessons and I want to pass these lessons on to you so that you can more clearly understand the thoughts and actions of your horse. I've studied and ridden with many horse trainers and developed skills that will help you. The time I have spent studying these trainers and practicing their techniques, such as Tom Dorrance and the late Ray Hunt, Craig Cameron and Dennis Reis is for the betterment of the horse.
I have also seen many riders who just don't know how to properly communicate with their equine partner and for that reason I started having riding clinics. My students vary from young riders to mature riders who have ridden for many, many years. In my clinics, communication is stressed as the Number 1 goal followed by safety. If you can't communicate with your horse you're not going to be a successful leader.
After you spend three days at one of my clinics, you will be on the road to understanding “why your horse is doing what he is doing and how to correct or encourage him.
